Easter Nonetheless

Such a different Easter from ones we are used to.
Such a different way to gather and praise God,
to acknowledge and give thanks for what God has done.

But it never was about the crowds, really.
Easter first dawned in a garden,
with only one soul to witness
that it had taken place.

One woman’s discovery,
passed on and on to others
like the candlelight at a Christmas Eve service,
but without walls to inhibit the expansion.
Lights blinking on bit by bit,
slowly, over time,
encircling the globe.
Recognizing our names
spoken by God,
is all that is required.

We do not bring about the resurrection.
The resurrection brings about us.

Wherever you are
on this unusual Easter –

Christ is risen!
Christ is risen indeed!

Alleluia!
Amen.
