Love

I will sing of your steadfast love, O Lord, forever;
    with my mouth I will proclaim your faithfulness to all generations.
I declare that your steadfast love is established forever;
    your faithfulness is as firm as the heavens.

– Psalm 89:1-2

On the fourth Sunday of Advent, we light the candle of love.

Love!  Love of God for us.  Love of us for God.  Love of us for each other.  Love.

You still have a lot to do and so do I, but we can sing of the steadfast love of God while we do it, or listen to recordings of someone else doing so.  😊

The greatest of these is love, friends.  Thanks be to God for the immeasurable gift of Jesus.  Emmanuel, God with us, now and forever, amen.

  1. I am a singing teacher (now retired after 43 years at a university) as well as a believer. I have also spoken of the role of voice in our lives, “Voice is the Muscle of the Soul: Finding Yourself through Finding Your Voice” (link below). So I especially appreciate your poem, “I go to sing.” Amen and amen. I am wondering if you are familiar with the late Christian poet, Elizabeth Rooney, who also wrote movingly and economically of faith in ordinary life circumstances. You can find more about her here: (https://www.brighamfarm.com/author.html). Here’s one short example:

    Upholding

    The cross could not cry out,
    It simply held him there.
    Silent supporter of Him
    In His pain,
    It stood
    Mute, helpless, wood.

    I feel as helpless as the cross
    To stop your pain,
    Can only hold you
    When it comes again,
    Be with you
    In this hurt I can’t prevent
    And hold you
    Till your suffering is spent.

    Best wishes,
