God plants seeds
at night in the dark.
Plenty of time
in this season of the year
to accomplish
this planting.
We are the soil –
disturbed, restless.
Sensing change coming,
unable to envision
the future.
Our task, if we so choose,
is to continue our nurturing work
for ourselves, for each other, for the planet,
readying ourselves daily
for the movement of God,
offering all we are
to what God is doing
in the prepping,
the planting,
the waiting,
the growing . . .
believing in the spring
which surely follows
these longest nights.
